Water quality matters

Look after the water that moves your heat

The water circulating through a heating system connects the heat source, pipework and emitters. Its condition deserves the same consideration as the equipment around it.
IWTM’s chemical-free approach combines the preparation of fill water with ongoing treatment of the closed-loop system. It addresses water quality factors including dissolved oxygen, conductivity and pH, alongside the removal of circulating impurities.

KronoHP helps installers and project teams explore the equipment and technical information needed to make water treatment part of the installation plan.

System preparation

Plan water treatment before commissioning

Fill water can introduce dissolved minerals and salts into the system. Existing installations may also contain debris or treatment residues that need to be considered before changing the water treatment approach. ProFill Prime supports demineralised filling and resin rinsing using the specified resin. Preparation should follow a project-specific procedure, with checks and records to confirm the required water quality has been achieved.

Address more than circulating debris
Ongoing protection

Address more than circulating debris

Capturing particles is one part of managing system water. IWTM Protector units combine filtration and magnetic separation with electrochemical treatment using magnesium anode technology. This approach helps manage the conditions associated with corrosion while collecting impurities. Inspection, servicing and water quality checks remain part of looking after the installation.

Six considerations for system water treatment

System Volume

Establish the total water volume so treatment equipment can be sized appropriately.

Operating Conditions

Check whether the installation serves heating or cooling, alongside its operating temperatures.

Existing Water Quality

Assess water condition and previous treatment before planning the preparation process.

Equipment Requirements

Check water quality limits specified for the heat source and other system components.

Installation Arrangement

Confirm full-flow or side-stream suitability, connection requirements and service access.

Ongoing Maintenance

Plan inspections, treatment component servicing and recorded water quality checks.
